Greetings everyone and welcome back. We are still on the series from last week Saturday. Click to see my previous post.
Most people today are self willed. They don’t seek God’s approval. This act can lead one to living an unfulfilled life. A son or daughter who wants to be in right standing with Christ ought to do His will.
Giving God your will simply means giving your soul to God, obeying his commands, living for Christ, etc. Self will is a thought process whereby a person acts and work on his or her own decisions. Will can also be referred to as power or determination. Surrendering your will to Christ, transcends beyond accepting Him as your savior; it is total submission, obedience and letting him take the lead.
When I became a born again Christian, I hungered for the presence of God every second of my life. During a prayer service in church, my pastor walked up to me and told me that if I give my will to Christ, I will see a change in my life. I obeyed, and I testify that it has been a speedy growth in the presence of God.
Its very easy to think that doing the will of God is so easy. It is not. There are so many enemies fighting you. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph 6:12. The sole purpose of the devil is to deceive you so you don’t do the will of God. This is the reason why you need the help of God in everything you do. In order to do Gods will faithfully, Hand your will to God where it can be safe.
Walk the right path
When you hand over your will to Jesus Christ, you will find yourself automatically walking in the right path. “Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Phili 2:12-13. Jesus comes into your life through the holy Ghost to guide and comfort you. He shows and reminds you when the devil comes to display his deceiving skills. The most important part is that the devil becomes defeated because he cant take your will from God.
Protect and nurtures your will
By the same way, when you give your will to God, he protect and nurtures your will. One’s determination in life could be to be successful spiritually and physically. When you give God your will by being dedicated and obedient to his word, every other thing falls in place. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matt 6:33
Equally, when you give God your will, He favors you. Favor is an unmerited blessing. It’s something you did not work for. God qualifies you in all things wether you merit it or not. As long as your attitude towards that will give him glory. Prov 3:1-4 says, if we make his word, will and command a lifestyle. He will give us long life, peace, prosperity and favor in the sight of God and man. To demonstrate, I have been in situations where I have been employed without having the job requirements. That is called Divine Favor.
Men and women who lived a fufilled life
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it they will be blessed in what they do.James 1:25. When you study the word of God you find out that there are so many Sons and daughters of the most high God who did Gods will and God rewarded them greatly. A few of them are:
Jesus of Nazareth
Jesus Christ was born to do Gods Will. “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.” John 6:38. He gave his will to God by humbling himself in the form of a man to die for our sins. A holy man dwelling in a world filled with sinners. He completely surrendered his self will and began to do the will of God his Father. When it was close to his crucification, he prayed saying, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” Luke 22:42.Jesus Christ was so passionate about doing His father’s will that he told his disciples, “My food,” “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” John 4:34 Jesus was greatly rewarded by His Father because he did as he was commanded. Nobody goes to God the father without passing through Jesus Christ. John 14:16. In the same way, the Father and Son are one. John 10:30. What a great reward!
Paul of Tarsus
Paul, a son of God gave his will to God. when he was arrested by God, he didn’t struggle or argue. There and then, he gave his will to God. Acts 9:6. Paul went on to preach the gospel to the gentiles. He managed and setup churches teaching them about heaven and hell. Likewise, He was greatly rewarded. God made him a Son ; he changed his identity from “Saul” to “Paul”. God delivered him from his enemies; he was never away from God’s radar.
“Persecutions, sufferings. What kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them” 2 Tim 3:11. Paul is well recognized; he’s remembered by generations today through his character in the bible. There were men in his time that we never heard of. What an act of uncommon favor by the most high God.
The Virgin Mary
Virgin Mary, a daughter of God. God found her worthy to carry his son. When the angel of the Lord gave her the message from God, she immediately consented to the will of God. “And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” Luke 1:38. The bible describes her as a lady who did Gods will, humble and holy. God favored her among her equals; she was a chosen vessel to birth and nurture Jesus. She is widely recognized today.
Finally, My brothers and sisters, who has your will? Take a step toward a fufilled life. Do God’s will. Make it easier for yourself by surrendering your will to him. Remember heaven at last is our end goal.“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Psalm 143:10. Whatsoever you ask in the name of Jesus Christ, He will bring it to pass John 14:13
Until next Saturday, Stay Blessed!
