Guard your spiritual gates 2|How to live a fufilling life

Posted on

Hello everyone! Do you know that as sons and daughters of Jesus, We own divine gifts, visions, and purpose? The devil has none, so he is stationed on the lookout to steal from you. Today’s post further explains our spiritual gates and how to guard them. Click to read the first (1) part of this post.

Guard your mouth

The devil uses our mouth to manipulate our soul. A true child of God is identified by the kind of words that comes out of their mouth.
Let your light shine before everyone you see. Let your friends, family and strangers see that every word that comes out of your mouth gives glory to God Matt 5:16.

The Bible describes the tongue as an instrument that can bring blessings or curses. Tune your tongue for blessings. Speak success upon yourself and your family.

For example, make confessions like; I am great, I’m above and not beneath, this land is mine to discover, and so on. When you speak words, it comes to pass because you are a Child of God. God has given you authority over all kingdoms and powers and nation. Jeremiah 1:1-10.

In general, be like David Psalm 141:3, ask God to set a guard over your mouth and keep watch over the door of your lips because those that guard their mouth and lips keep themselves from calamity. Proverbs 21:23.

Guard your flesh

We exist in two natures; spirit and flesh. When you receive salvation, you start operating in the spirit man. John 6:63
Also, if you are a sinner, you dwell in the flesh, and display the works of the flesh (unrighteousness) which include; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying’s, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and many more. Galatians 5:19-21.

In the same way, to guard the flesh, you have to be careful in everything you do. Some of these things include appearance and spiritual exercise.

Watch your appearance

Our bodies are temples of God, holy and a living sacrifice. To demonstrate, the royal family, governed by the queen is known for modesty in dressing.

We believers, on the other hand, are much higher in status because we possess divine royalty. Why dress like servants in the name of fashion? For the purpose of holiness and divine royalty, put away all filthy garments that promotes immorality. Remember we were chosen by God who took his time to create us fearfully and wonderfully.

Fasting

A child of God should emulate Jesus Christ. Engage in all forms of spiritual exercise to keep fit and sound. when you engage in activities like fasting, you weaken the flesh man in you. The man of the spirit man inside you becomes more powerful. When you make fasting a habit; you are able to withstand temptations. John4:11

In general, when you sacrifice to your food, time, or energy to God, the devil will always be in awe of you.

Guard your mind

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23. The mind is the closest gateway to the soul. The ears, eyes, mouth, flesh and all is connected to the mind. I like to call it the processing machine of our soul. It has a great influence on the soul. What you constantly feed your mind can either be healthy or unhealthy for the soul. Once the devil gets power over your mind, he’s one step away from your soul.

Guarding your mind simply means, keeping unrighteous practices from your mind. Adorn your mind with the fruits of the spirit; love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. Galatians 5:22-23. Keep things like unforgiveness, idleness, envy, jealousy, negative imaginations, greed, contention from the mind. When your mind is polluted, it contaminates your soul. Serial killers and terrorists are good demonstrations for people who failed to guard their mind from the devil. The devil is using them to cause pain and destruction all over the world. If you find it difficult to guide your mind, go to God in prayer or speak to your pastor. In essence, the Bible is the best food for your mind. Study the Word of God.

In conclusion, don’t be a lukewarm Christian. Put on your war garment and fight the devil. Hand your spiritual gates to Jesus and make him guard over them.

However, If you’re convinced the devil has penetrated your soul. There’s hope, ask God for forgiveness and He will give you the grace to defeat the devil. Stay blessed!
