Continuity is key in service to God

service to God

One fateful evening Obi was disturbed. “How do I remain relevant in my service to God?” He asked his dad.
His dad invited him to take a seat and began to tell him a story.

Umuchukwu Village

A long time ago, in the land of umuchukwu, the community annually came together come to have competitions in different spheres of sporting activities. It was a fishing activity, another time, it was community singing, but this time, it was a racing competition.

Eyinaya (Trader) & Akachukwu (Hunter)

Enyinaya, the trader and Akachukwu, the hunter, were selected to run the race. Akachukwu, the hunter, boasted that he had no problem with racing considering he is always on the chase of wild animals. Enyinaya, on the other hand, told his peers that practice makes perfect and that he was going to commit to excessive exercise for the race.

Akachukwu being a hunter didn’t bother about practising for the race. He was used to chasing wild animals and believed he could handle the task. So, he went about his daily activities.

Beauty of Umuchukwu

Then came the day of the racing competition. The waterfronts of the Penisula were decorated with glorious colours. The community assembled at the market square. The community popular flute music played by the blind group was in session. The flute group blared praise songs for God almighty. The community joined in the dancing and praises.

There appeared Akachukwu, Eyinaya and their friendly supporters.
They all danced in unison with the community.
The race started Akachukwu being familiar with running, took off at full speed. Eyinaya, having trained on long racing, took off slowly and continued to pace faster as the distance demanded.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Galatians 6:9
A winner emerges

Mid-race Akachukwu became tired and started to slow down while Eyinaya increased momentum, finished the race, and emerged as the competition winner.

Dad, what is the moral of your story? Obi asked with so much enthusiasm.

My son, it is not about how hard you are but how long you can last in the service of God.

It is not about how vibrant you are but how long can you hold the ground.

How long?

Dear beloved now is the time to recommit yourself to the service of God. Serve him diligently and faithfully. It is not about how hard you are but how long you last. God is looking at how committed you are to His service in the area of relationship, caring, growing in the word, prayer life, soul-winning and other aspects of believers living. It is not about how vibrant you are but how long can you hold the ground.

“Continuation brings freedom.”

As we journey through 2021, let us make it a duty to be faithful in service to God for “continuation brings freedom.”
My prayer is that the holy spirit helps us remain loyal servants to God throughout this year and beyond in Jesus’ name.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

I Corinthians 15:58

However, to serve God faithfully, you have to make Jesus Christ Lord and saviour over your life. Without God’s help, your efforts will be pointless. If they eventually yield results, it will be short-lived. (Psalm 37:10)

God loves us all that was why he sent his only son to die for our sins. So, we can be in freedom. His desire is that we receive him and abide in Him so that He can perfect our life. (John 3:16)

Salvation is the only route to become heirs with Christ. When you become heirs with Christ, you are entitled to his Kingdom. (Acts 4:12)

Relationship with Christ is choosing to walk with Him. Once you realize your sin and ask for mercy, He will help you to become holy. The only thing that prevents us from a relationship with Christ is SIN. Sin separates us from God because He is holy. (Isaiah 59:2)

All unrighteousness is sin (1John 5:7). Sin includes; unbelief, disobedience, un-forgiveness, vain imaginations, strife, bitterness, malice, covetousness, lies, blasphemy, fornication, adultery, masturbation, prostitution, homosexuality, lesbianism, swearing, palm reading, stealing, etc.

If you are living in any form of sin. Change your ways, Ask God for mercy and walk with Him. There is no sin too hard for him to forgive. (Isaiah 1:18-19) He is the God of second chances. Amend your ways so that you make heaven on the last day. When you are right with God, you will experience Joy (Psalm 92:12). If you want to give your life to Jesus Christ, say the prayer below.

Dear Father, I come before you and ask that you forgive me of my sins (confess your sins). I am sorry and ask that you forgive me. Today, I believe that you died on the cross for my sins. I believe you resurrected on the third day. I surrender my life to you, Lord. Come into my life and become my Lord and personal saviour. Thank you for your mercy. I ask that you teach me, guide my paths and preserve me for heaven at last.

Congratulations! Now that you’re saved, please find a bible believing church to continue this process and maintain your salvation If you received Christ today or have questions, I will love to hear from you. Email me at or message me on Instagram, or Facebook

These words are not for condemnation but for conviction. I Love you all with the love of the lord.

Stay blessed!
